Hello, my name is Deborah Jeffery and I am Fairfax Dietetics.

I received my BS degree with a major in dietetics from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  After completing the clinical dietetics program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, I qualified to take and passed the national examination for registration with the American Dietetic Association (ADA).

I started my career as a registered dietitian (RD) by working in a community hospital as a clinical dietitian before being promoted to chief dietitian. During this time I developed and supervised the development of nutrition assessments and counseling patients on a variety of therapeutic diets including weight management, sodium restricted, diabetic, and low cholesterol.  After the birth of my 2 children, I began counseling pregnant teens and women on prenatal nutrition.  I also assisted on a study concerning nutrition status and pregnancy outcome in adolescents for the National Institute of Health.  This experience led to a position working with children diagnosed with Phenylketonuria, a metabolic disorder requiring a very specialized diet.  My role as a metabolic dietitian included teaching medical students and writing grant applications.

I am an active member of the Northern District Virginia Dietetic Association serving on the Executive Board.  In addition to being a RD, I am also certified by the American Dietetic Association in childhood, adolescent, and adult weight management.

Please feel free to contact me to schedule an appointment or discuss your diet requirements. I look forward to working with you.
